1894 History Club

Welcome to the 1894 History Club!

In our exhibition, everything revolves around the history of the First Vienna Football Club 1894. As Austria's first and thus oldest football club, it represents an important piece of Austrian sports history.

The rich history of the club is presented from its beginnings to the present day in an exhibition space of 150 square metres and on numerous information boards. The exhibition recalls key milestones and features club personalities
such as its founder Nathaniel Mayer, Anselm Rothschild, the British playercoach Mark D. Nicholson, the 1955 league winning team with Hans Menasse, Johann Buzek, and the other "Yellow-Blue Legends" Johann Krankl, World Cup champion Mario Kempes, Andreas Herzog and record-breaking player, Sophie Neid. There is also a space dedicated to the story of the construction of Hohe Warte stadium in the 1920s, the club's first league title win in 1931, and the history of the Vienna fans.

Various trophies, donated by former players and fans from their private collections, can be viewed in glass cabinets. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the Mitropa Cup trophy, which Vienna won in 1931. This trophy, the most illustrious in the club's history, was painstakingly reconstructed in months of work exclusively for the 1894 History Club.

The honorary curator of the exhibition is Alexander Juraske, historian and author of "Blau-Gelb ist mein Herz” (“My heart is blue and yellow”) (2017). He came up with the idea of the 1894 History Club together with Michael
Czeschka, a Vienna fan with the largest private collection of club memorabilia; made possible through the support of First Vienna's board of directors and the club's main sponsor UNIQA.

We are looking forward to your visit!
